February 2022 Update
8 February 2022
Hello from week 6 of 2022!
Yes, it has been a minute since the last farm update, but we are back online! I hope you had a lovely holiday season with your special people and that the winter months have been a time for rest.
Big things that have happened since the last update?
1) We planted 1,500 tulip bulbs (!) and about 300 sq. ft. of garlic.
-Keep an eye out for the tulips in April and May!
2) Our metal building has arrived!
-This building will serve as our farm store & kitchen, flower shop, and workshop! This means you will be able to visit us on the farm, pick up flowers and veggies (and more!), pick your own flowers and veggies, and even stick around for some farm to table snacks. Sounds like a pretty perfect Saturday afternoon...
3) We have completed our greenhouse construction!
-It is a 16'x24' greenhouse, which means my greenhouse space has increased from 60 sq. ft. to 384 sq. ft. WOW. I feel like a princess.
The next steps? Seeding, seeding, seeding like maniacs. Because of our new location, I will be able to grow more than ever this year. We are also looking forward to watching our building take shape as the electricity, plumbing, floor, and walk-in cooler (!) get installed.
This year for Valentine's Day, we are offering digital gift cards through our website. Perfect for last minute gifts, you will instantly receive a unique code that can be used through our website. Treat your sweetie now to an anytime bouquet when the fields are lush with flowers (April through October). Shop digital gift cards here.
As always, thank you for following our journey and for your endless support.
We are eagerly awaiting sunny, bloom-filled days on the farm that we hope you share with us. Keep reading below for a call for salvage materials, intern and volunteer opportunities, and a giveaway for you and a friend.
SALVAGE
We are now at the exciting stages of finishing out our building! Know someone with salvage items or have some yourself? We would love to chat with you. We are looking for: rough cut lumber, peg board, sheet metal, doors, cinder blocks, shelves, light fixtures, sinks/bathroom vanity, faucets, etc.
INTERN
We are interested in welcoming interns and volunteers to the farm this season. Know someone who would be interested in interning on a budding flower and vegetable farm? The application can be found here: Intern Application - Stormbrew Farm. (Anyone interested in volunteering, please fill out the same form and make note that you would like to volunteer.)
Interns and volunteers will get to enjoy farm fresh meals, take home fresh flowers and produce, and gain invaluable hands-on experience.
I am truly excited to work with passionate individuals and grow with the community. If you have any good fits for these opportunities, please send them my way!
GIVEAWAY
These newsletters are our best way to directly share farm news and info with you. Often, informative posts on social media don't reach all of our followers unless we pay for ads, and we want to be sure we can keep you updated!
Please share this email with a flower-loving friend who isn't subscribed to our newsletter. When they sign up, they will be entered into a drawing for a $20 credit at the farm! If they win, you will also receive a $20 credit! Subscribe to the newsletter here.
Farm credit can be spent on flowers, veggies, seedlings, eggs, honey, and anything else we are offering at the Abingdon Farmer's Market or at the farm.
Thanks for reading, attached are some progress pics of the farm.
Talk to you soon,
Daisy
